My Story

Hello and welcome!

I’m a first-generation college graduate born and raised in a small, predominantly Guatemalan community in Los Angeles, CA. Growing up with immigrant parents who held deep pride in their Maya K'iche heritage, I developed a strong connection to my culture. Over time, this cultural foundation sparked my passion for art, design, and communication.

As I began my college journey at UC Davis, I chose to study Sociology and Design—an interdisciplinary approach that allowed me to explore the intersection of society, culture, and design. It was through this lens that I discovered the powerful role of human-centered design in addressing societal issues.

One of my first key experiences was working as a Graphic Designer and Social Media Intern for Kid City Hope Place, a non-profit organization dedicated to empowering underserved youth and supporting their higher education journeys. There, I designed promotional materials aimed at engaging high school students with educational opportunities, ensuring our services and events reached the right audience.

In my senior year of college, I took on the role of Promotional Graphics Coordinator at the Center for Educational Opportunity Program (EOP) at UC Davis. As part of the communications team, I helped promote initiatives focused on supporting and retaining first-generation, low-income students. I contributed to branding, organizing, and executing campaigns that uplifted students in their undergraduate academic pursuits.

After graduating, I transitioned to ASUCLA's Promotional Products Production Manager at UCLA, the student-centered organization at UCLA. I managed a custom print shop that served the entire UCLA community. My team worked closely with student clubs, faculty, and staff to design and produce ethical, sustainable, and affordable promotional products, further enhancing campus life.

Currently, I serve as a Digital Organizer at CARECEN-LA, a non-profit organization committed to empowering and advocating for the immigrant community in Los Angeles. In this role, I oversee social media campaigns that raise awareness around immigrant rights and amplify our messaging to reach a broader audience.

Throughout my career, I've stayed committed to using design as a way to create positive change. I'm passionate about combining culture, communication, and design to empower communities and create a lasting impact.

Thanks for taking the time to visit!
